GTW Series
Maximum block output
Possibility of cutting slabs from 10 mm thickness, with millimetric increments
Optimal flatness of the slab surface
Description

The machine that revolutionises the cutting of marble and stone blocks.

It use an ultra-thin diamond wire with a diameter ranging up to 0.6 mm, while maintaining the Gaspari Menotti brand philosophy that makes reliability and sturdiness its strong points.
The GTW Series ultra-thin wire machine has been specifically designed and engineered to maximise productivity by reducing scrap to practically zero.

Features
  • The geometry of the GTW ultra-thin wire machine

    The ultra-thin wire machine model GTW consists of two columns connected to each other at the top, which support the cutting structure, positioned in the centre of the machine, with respect to the columns themselves.
    This geometry allows the weight to be balanced by keeping it in the centre of the machine, thus minimising vibrations.

  • The movement of the cutting structure

    During the cutting phases, the structure housing the wire performs two movements:

    • an up and down movement along the columns, which occurs via a bronze screw and nut system installed inside each column;
    • a pendulum movement, which allows the cutting structure to tilt by reducing the surface of the block in direct contact with the wire. This pendulum movement allows GTW to increase the down feed speed and to better remove the scrap material resulting from the cut.

  • The cutting structure

    The heart of the GTW ultra-thin wire machine consists of the following components, which allow the wire to move:

    • two spools on which the wire is wound and unwound;
    • two guiding wheels, of which the one closest to the spool is fixed on a slider to allow the wire to be unwound and rewound on each of the two spools;
    • two tensioning pulleys;
    • a central body composed of four polyurethane-coated rollers, in which the grooves inside which the wire slides are carved. The grooves are at a constant distance from each other; the wire passes through these grooves allowing the slabs to be cut to the desired thickness.

  • Wire movement diagram

    The wire is wound onto one of the two spools; by means of the guiding wheels and tensioning wheel system, it is passed around the 4 main rollers to be rewound, again by means of the guiding wheels and tensioning wheel, onto the spool positioned on the opposite side of the 4 central rollers. The 4 rollers form the central body of the cutting structure, while the spools, wire guiding wheels and tensioning pulleys are installed to the right and left of the central body. The machine cuts the block by unwinding the wire from one spool and rewinding it on the other spool for the length established by the operator and set via the dedicated software, then reverses the direction of the wire.
