It is the machine that revolutionises the cutting of marble blocks, using an ultra-thin diamond wire with a diameter up to 0.6 mm allowing different slab thicknesses to be obtained.
Gaspari Menotti designed and manufactured the GTW-4 using the most advanced technologies.

Geometry and design of the GTW-4
The range of ultra-thin wire machines produced by Gaspari Menotti is enriched with the GTW-4 to offer customers a 4-column machine.
The machine adopts the same cutting technology already tested in the two-column GTW but applied on a fixed structure while the block is lifted with the same solutions used for decades on marble gang-saws. -
The columns of the GTW-4
The columns are made of steel and give the GTW-4 stability and rigidity unmatched by any other solution.
Next to the columns are the platform’s lifting screws, protected by robust bellows, which prevent them from coming into contact with water to ensure a long service life. The block holding trolley is fixed to the platform by means of a mechanical locking system that does not allow any movement of the trolley itself. -
The cutting structure
The heart of the GTW-4 ultra-thin wire machine consists of the following components, which allow the wire to move:
- two spools on which the wire is wound and unwound;
- two guiding wheels, of which the one closest to the spool is fixed on a slider to allow the wire to be unwound and rewound on each of the two spools;
- two tensioning pulleys;
- four pulleys optimising the wire direction at the entry and exit of the four rollers
- a central body composed of four polyurethane-coated rollers, in which the grooves inside which the wire slides are carved. The grooves are at a constant distance from each other; the wire passes through these grooves allowing the slabs to be cut to the desired thickness.

Block cutting mode
The wire is unwound from a spool and, through a series of pulleys, arrives at the central body formed by the four rolls, each of which is driven by a brushless motor that allows the roll to rotate in synchrony with the other three.
The GTW-4 cuts the block by unwinding the wire from one spool and rewinding it on the other spool for the length established by the operator and set via the dedicated software, then reverses the direction of the wire. -
Electrical panel and software
The electrical panel is located on the platform that runs around the cutting structure and has been specially designed in accordance with the dictates of EC regulations to meet the directives of “Industry 4.0”.
The software was created by Gaspari Menotti and is simple and intuitive to allow the operator to have all the information on the machine at a glance.
